Well seeing as i got woken up early after getting back late and i cant sleep.... i`ll tell you about Absolutes trade night last night.

Most importantly there was a lovely pork roll to begin with. With free beers or soft drinks if you preffered. Luckilly i took my bottle opener just incase as they had forgot thiers appparetly!

They have a nice new shiny brochure for the Cat 3 stuff which is very nice to flick through. The firing list comprised of 125 items and we were invited to stroll the firing site before it went dark.

About 9.20 the first items went off startng with some good old catherine wheels.

Out of the Cat 3 bits there was a fantastic fountain called Flying Phoenix coming in at RRP 8.99 which had a fantastic height on it and duration, i will be buying som of these. Thier SFX rockets were good, looked like a 2.5" shell break... come in at 40 a pack of 4 which i think is reasonable. 100 shot gold and sapphires was very very nice as it had some fantastic gold glitter in it. That was my pick from thier Cat 3.

Cat 4 was a little dissapointing i felt. Many items had the same firing patterns although they were nice to choose a few items from, but if you a did a display soley with thier Cat 4 range it would begin to look samey. I would but thier red with brocade and red strobe cake though.... and Rapid siler glitter, lovely effects in both of them.

The shells were good but you can see thier entire range of shells ont he website, the breaks were average in size and volume. The one i went for - 6" red flowers and brodcade dissapointed me as the flowers all went in one go.... on the website you can see them go 1 2 and 3 then brocade,,,, the video is better!!!

All in all, good night, good food, nice company and i will be purchasing some bits... If any pof you see the Flying phoenix i strongly reccomend buying some for your garden displays!!

Do you know who stocks Absolute, or who may be doing this year?
OK, interest in fireworks to be resumed in the spring. It usually is. ;)

Hi Guys

We've been stocking Absolute for a couple of years and I can confirm that the Flying Pheonix is a really great fountain and still at 2008 price and in stock at the moment! We tend to stock nearly the complete range in season but some lines are just not available out of season.

The SFX rockets are great and have proved to be a good seller. This year there will be two packs of SFX making for 8 different rockets. Pyromeshed aswell so they can be delivered.

As for review nights, ours is confirmed for Saturday 26th of September. Firework Crazy Review Night 2009

I know of at least one company that has decided not to go ahead with their review night this year.

I know several didn't last year, too, for various reasons. JTF were the only one I can think of near me who did a review night, and that was somewhat biased (selected fireworks only, some items were 2006 spec).

Well that wont have done them any favours. If you had bought a load of fireworks and then when you let it off it didnt match up to what you saw, would you buy from them again?

Well since no-one has replied i can only assume no-one went!

I did.

The skywriting cakes were meant to be a 1 and a 8. They were more of a sky mess. I think they were fired at the wrong angle but either way need work on them!!

The shells were a little to be desired in my opinion however at thier prices some of them were definately worth the money... the majority i felt not.

Some fantatsic cakes there. I especiallly liked the dragons eggs ones, i dont normally like dragons eggs but these 2 were something else. You will know what i mean if you went.

Food.... ran out after 2 minutes, very dissapointing. No coffee either.

Sales people didnt come and chat once, rather dissapointing.

All in all not the best demo night ive been to, but worth it for some unusual bits and bobs.

Any more news on any demo nights? With changing stock, new regs, pyromeshed rockets etc a demo night is probably more useful now than ever!

I suppose it just depends on how good the fireworks look- and sound.

I've not been to a demo night yet where it was all new-spec stuff- and for that matter, I've never seen or done a display with mostly/all new spec stuff. One wonders how it would look.
