Ok, hypothetical question,

If you were the artistic director in charge of all of the 2012 olympic opening ceremony .............what would you do to sell London to the world in terms of fireworks, special effects, music, lighting, culture etc and why?

I'd recreate the great fire of London on a 1/1 scale. I have never been overawed with the place.

You should move to Cumbria - your sense of humour would go down well around here :D

LOL, I know what you mean...........In some ways I feel the same as you and I live 15 miles outside the place!

Ok same question, but leaving out the London aspect for a moment?

Lots depends on whether they are going for British talent in which case they should be Kimbolton made fireworks, or going for the current world fave company with Chinese shells!

I think too a lot may change in four years- we are on the brink of what appears to be a quite serious slump. If money is an issue, fireworks might not figure at all.
OK, interest in fireworks to be resumed in the spring. It usually is. ;)

I think when the budget is eleven billion plus, the cost of fireworks is immaterial,

Maybe the UKPS should start lobbying for a British show? What says the head honcho?

Good idea, keep it british!

I don`t see why a number of UK firework companies can`t be part of a co-ordinated display!..........perhaps headed by Kimbolton (given they could make some of the fireworks).

We should all have a vote on this forum as to who we want..............and then lobby the ODA.

I believe it is already too late. I'm told Jack Morton Worldwide are producing the opening ceremony, and historically they work with Groupe F.

I think that the Olympics are too big for one country. Apparently Agrekko supplied generators to the Chinese Olympics. Just another company on the world market. Also the lights were largely western makes rather than Pearl River Chinese products.

Ok, this marketing company produces events and shows based on research/marketing/presentations (apparently they did `Athens 2004`) I don`t see any reason why UK firework display companies can`t pitch to them, or to make representations to the ODA that local work forces/companies should be used!

I can`t find any info on this `Group F` organisation, does anyone have there web address?
