I fancy doing the BECTU SFX course, partly for fun partly for practical interest. Does anyone want to share a course with me.

It's a Three* DAY residential course in the south-west of England, with accommodation theory and practical, At the last count it was £400 per person, Which for a 3 day activity holiday with energetic materials isn't too bad!

If we get a group of 8 to 10 then we can have a course of our own, and possibly modify the course material in directions which more interest us. However for anyone that actually wants the BECTU certificate then the whole syllabus must be covered.

Does anyone want to form a group of ten to do the course?

* Sorry It was a four day course once now it's a three day course.

I would be interested, are you looking at the Event Horizon courses??

Would prefer the course to be "as is" rather than tailored :)

I am considering attending this course also. Mainly from the HE angle and all the associated procedures and legislation concerning it.

:) Great starting interest!

If we buy a whole course we choose when we do it! If we buy a few places on a course THEY choose the dates.

Yes it goes to HE SFX with the basic training required.

What say you to asking for a week in mid april 09. Everyone will have to arrange the leave from work or business.

Put me down for a definite please. I've been wanting to do this course for some time, but circumstance prevented me from doing so in the past. I emailed EH a while back to ask if they had any planned dates for 2009 but didn't receive a reply. Of course, if we can specify our own date, that would be spot on. I want to use this course to assist me in becoming accredited to work with HE in an SFX context (which will assist our re-enactment group)

I am interested too.

I assume that this is the course you are looking at Clicky Clicky.

This course is normally £425 for individuals, so what is the block booking discount?
Phew that was close.

OK we all know the course! Shall we pick a date?

April or May 09 should be clear of most firework events. As this will be a weekday course there will clearly be a need to get time off work.

At the moment my calendar is clear, and so once we have a date I can request the time off.

OK I heard today that the course needs 6 to run and max 8. Also April is OK.

As before (remembering that it is £450 ish AND three days off work, and NO under 18s (MSER) ) Please cut and paste the list and add your own name if you are interested.
