As I said I have no intentions of evading any laws however if say next year my day off is Friday the week before bonfire night hence being the only day I will be able to go and buy fireworks before the big night it means storing them for say 6 days and not the 3, in that instance is it worth paying 'only' £80 just so I can have a fireworks display.

Thats the law, I'm afraid. I guess a way round it would be to split the storage between say your house and your neighbours, keeping the NEC of each stock below 5KG. If asked you could say (quite reasonably) that you were doing a split display- half in his back garden, half in yours.
OK, interest in fireworks to be resumed in the spring. It usually is. ;)

Not to look like im going to try and get around any laws here but realistically if I go out and buy 20 large 1.3g barrages next year and put them in the house whats the chances of someone knocking on the door saying can we search the premises for fireworks please?

It wouldn't surprise me if it goes the same way as when you buy a tv.
I.E. you have to give your house number and postcode to the people selling you the fireworks so that the licensing people will have access to who is buying what, where and when and that way they can do random checks to see if the pyro has been used within the specified storage time.

No doubt i've just given some stuck up git a pay rise when he reads this and goes to his boss suggesting it as his own idea so to make sure this doesn't happen then im putting the following disclaimer on this.

This idea is mine and if anyone reading this from the Licensing people are reading this then before this law, or any law which has resulted from directly reading this, can come into affect then you must pay the writer £1million pound B)

and, as a witness to that clause, I'll take 10% !!!

i cosidered reporting someone this year...his audi estate was filled to the brim with fireworks(some in bags/boxes and some large cakes lying in view), around 20th october.....I tried to contact him, left a note on his car, telephone number etc.......i didn't want to be a git, but it looked like he was stocking up for small war.

didnt need to report it though, the local "young team" took care of it. Firstly by smashing his windows, then by stealing all of the aforementioned fireworks. note to self....don't leave fireworks in car !

That could explain the large number of destroyed bins in the area......Kids these days !

Some shops will already know those details- JTF being the most obvious example.

I think too a firework shop will ask for your name and address if you are buying over 50KG NEC.

As for cars, I think the sensible thing is not to draw attention to what you have in your car- make sure it is stocked below the windowline, and is covered over and boxed up, if possible put in the boot.

Hey, new here but I thought I would present what I am planning next year, November 5th that is.

Epic have agreed for me to place a large order on fireworks within August, then a smaller one in September for when they get their new stock. Then pick it up two days before the display :)

So far I have decided on well, so many of their boxes, that is Epic, Paramount, Marvel and Oriental.

I will be buying all of their finale barrages, I have a funding of 1300 Thousand. Should be a good display... no rockets! :D

2009 might see a bit of "belt tightening" across the market, I think, with the economy being in recession. Or maybe not! It is never really easy to predict trends. January onwards is when importers start travelling to China etc and looking at the new lines- I'm keen to see what stuff is being brought in this year!
