well this topics a bit "dead in the water" i found the answer that comet are indeed fixed to rocket sticks, :) so im moving to cavity comets, and at the moment ive got a few dozen 25mm tigertails dying.. right! would it be prudent to put a paper disk over the end of the comet covering cavity to protect the core of star comp so it doesn't burn up as fast, so that you get a good colored star at the end instead of both burning simultaneously?, yeah playing catch up with all you guys at the moment :D

Putting a disc over the cavity won't do much as the walls will burn up pretty quickly, you need to paste the comet with 2 or 3 turns of paper leaving a small portion on the comet at the bottom unpasted. Basicly you need to paste them so they burn in an end burner fashion igniting the colour core at the end.

Though you may want to skip pasting, when you've got 200 or so 18mm ones to do
