I just need to find a local store selling cat3 flash to get some rockets

Put bluntly, unless you find a shop selling old stock then you might struggle.

I'm not sure, too, what the legality is with old stock.

more rockets...any suggestions on that score would be REALLY appreciated (like the look of the King Cobra rockets though)

So far im thinking along the lines of

A Black cat's All Night Party & a Brothers Companion Box plus rockets (Epics Guido's party pack for under £100)

to get things started as its my youngest birthday on GFN (he'll be six and No i didn't call him Guy although the thought crossed my mind ;) )

Next up i'm tempted to go along the lines of

Humming hornets x 2

Dr thrust

Fiery eye x 2

Six machine

King Cobra

Krazy Klock x 2

Heavy duty

Brothers master mine x 2

Raging Bull

Imperial x 2

Wild horses

Tank Buster

Brothers selection

Golden eye

Screaming Spiders

Open Fire x 2

Fire one

Plus various Rockets throughout

For the people who fire 2 at a time etc how do you guys try to get the timing right?

As we all know visco is never the same length on 2 fireworks so do you re-fuse and link them, use electric dets or maybe launch control and trim the fuses to the same length?

Or light one and light the other?!

Just wondered as i always whack in electric dets and wire them in series or use black match etc.... a Cat 4 approach.

Good question. To be honest, there is no hard and fast way of getting the timing right. If I'm firing two, I like to use Launch Kontrol, which has a two second delay, so basically just chance it- it's never been an issue.

What DOES frustrate the hell out of me is when I fire several items for a finale, and everything finishes- except one, which is still pumping off a single effect.
OK, interest in fireworks to be resumed in the spring. It usually is. ;)

I keep changing my firing order- can't afford to spend over £20 on a single firework (other than for a finale), so mixing and matching a bit with smaller stuff.

Agreed on both counts. Visco fuse does vary as we all know but I have used Luanch Kontrol to put on several private displays, using up to three lines, left , centre and right etc - as was displayed at the St Georges event held at the woodman. All our timings for LK were based on using 4sec delay (assumed) and then adjusting the LK fuse accordingly.

Fire One looks to be a popular one this year- a neat firework, although personally, I'd say Epic's own brand ones- Awaken, Atomic Tornado, Ultimate Devastation (for pace) and Imperial Invasion (for duration) have the edge at this price point.
