Anyone else from the forum going this year?

I am going from 15th - 19th. Cant wait to start shopping in those pyro paradises :D

Weather looks a bit showery on Tuesday, but mostly set fair after that.

I looked into going this year with my partner but the prices were crazy, but looking on the ukfr forum i see there are much cheaper ways of doing it.

So the good news is my partner has said if i want to go next year i can go by myself :D as she thought it might be a bit mad for her.

If you dont mind me asking what is your hotel etc costing?

I've always wanted to organise a UKPS trip, but it's never happened - maybe next year...

Anyone interested in taking on the project?

I am going wuth the missus again this year, so I needed a decent hotel (I booked it all last August - nothing like planning ahead :P )

Hotel - Silken Puerta (4 star) 87 Euros a night, breakfast included (thats for 2 of us).

Flights - Ryanair I think was £150 each return with priority boarding.

The flights have most definitely gone up since the first time I went 3 years ago (more than doubled).

You could get a far cheaper hotel than I have chosen. From memory there was plenty about half that price last August.

I ve hunted around the net for the best deals to the `Las Fallas` festival, but theres not much choice in terms of complete package deals.

If you don`t mind staying in a hostel and traveling by bus, then this is about the cheapest package tour (4 days) I have found (so far).

Quoted out of context from elsewhere
The daily fireworks called "la mascletta" (no translation) at 2pm where it is all about noise and rhythm... you FEEL them shaking your organs inside your body,, sounds horrible but its amazing gives such a natural high and adrenaline rush that you cant describe. Trully words cannot describe how great a mascletta is.. I REALLY recommend the trip over in the middle of march to anybody, just to see one of the 20 daily mascletas.. 250kg of "polvera" (powder) in under 5 minutes... and the barriers start at 20mtrs away from the cage. The finale every time is just a pure rumble... trully earth shaking for 10 seconds or so.. the bombs used in the finale are all class 4 fireworks.. and there are so many that you cant distinguish one explosion from another.... in my video.. notice all of them hung from strings (1:45)... ALL of those are let off in seconds.

All Pyros must go; it really is a close second to sex!

.

I have an interesting video with flutter pressure effects on the tape, shot by me from inside the main square cage.
In those days, Health and Safety had not been invented and the maroons had even more flash.
Before China got going, I used lots of Brunchu and Caballer shells so benefited from their provision of crew passes.:D

Just got back from the fallas via an alternative route that may be of some interest.

The Plymouth Santander ferry is cheap this month (march) so a car and its occupants can be done for about £450. basic hostal accomadation in spain is about £18 pound a man. Accomadation in Valencia itself needs to be booked well in advance and is dear. We had a self catering apartment four miles out, from the the 15th to the 19th £320 (it slept six!) we were doing it as part of a rather bigger tour but the basic mileage would be under 1000 so say 9 miles per litre under £150 (petrol and diesel is cheaper there and the roads are fab no need to use the auto pistas). The ball ache with being out of town is the buses are no use and you need to go in twice a day for the mascleta at 1400 and then the fireworks proper at gone midnight so its cabs or drive in which all the guide books say don't do as parking is a mare. We drove in and it may take a little while but you'll find somewhere! so unless my maths is out the bare bones is under a grand for four people less food drink and hookers/gigolos .

bear in mind you sleep on the boat and can do Santander to Valencia in one day (450 miles) so you don't need accomadation in between.

We were there for two weeks using Hemingways "Death in the afternoon" as a guide book but the focus for the whole trip was the fallas

If you like your pyro it really is kill if you have to, sell your granny by all means, but go somehow!
