I left them to dry for a few weeks before cooking but I think they were fairly dry to start with.

I'll tell you what - you don't get much from them. I started out with a large biscuit tin full of charred cones & by the time I had crushed it up there was only a fraction left !!

They are easy to cook though, due to the large surface area : volume ratio.

Made some Slow Gold with it today for 20mm pumped stars for my rocket headers.

This is me making charcoal..

Our saviours : In the ninth century, a team of Chinese alchemists trying to synthesize an "elixir of immortality" from saltpeter, sulfur, realgar, and dried honey instead invented gunpowder.

I would be interested to hear how cone charcoal performs.

Im not impressed with the pine cone charcoal. It doesn't burn properly with the ratios I normally use.

I made a large ish batch of Slow Gold with it & it was a disaster. I'm thinking I could use these stars as fireproof brickettes, it was so bad !!

Wasted the Ti sponge I had left

I might chuck them in the mill to break up to try to filter out & salvage some Ti, I'm sure it will be safe it won't even burn with the blowlamp !
