I may be missing something but Ive never set my 2" racks up next to my 6" tubes before?

transport shouldnt change as youve still the same number of racks, just that some of them are shorter and lighter than they would be if made to the same length? I dont see that Ill have any more equipment this way but please tell me if Im wrong Id prefer to realise now than later :-) ?

BTW Digger how are your tubes held down? as I assume with the low profile base they must be to prevent jumping?

Whilst we're all in metal rack mode, here's some pics of our aluminium alloy racks that I started building a couple of years ago and add to as when needs and time permit. They've proved to be very reliable and nice and light - the 4" frame is 3.5Kg without tubes. They're shown on one of the variable angle frames, we have fixed ones for common configurations too.Posted Image

I think Trev is having issues linking web hosted images, if you post the link alone it will do trev?

BTW does anyone out ther have any OLD 4" OR 5" GRP tubes? I deally at the end of their useable life?

I want to test these racks with the oldest tubes I can to give a worst case scenario of lessened rack asistance in the case of a CATO and its also gutting to destroy a full rack of new 5" tubes :-(

Yeah they look the part Phil, good job.

Are we anywhere with costings and have you made a decision surrounding protective coating (Galvanised, electroplated etc)?

pricig stands a little more than I hoped BUT I really like them and they do look the part :)

Im definately going with galv got it priced already n its really no more than proper painting with a lot less work and a much better level of protection.

These prices are quoted as single rack runs, as Im ordering over 100 already anyone ordering ASAP would get discount as will I for bulk, and if ordering enough (probably 10 or more) would get discount too at the time.

A bitmore than I hoped but they are sturdy now Ive them to play with.
