is there a law on purchasing and using pyrotechics in an ameture film?

Law on acquisition -must be 18 or over, must have proof of competence insurance etc for fireworks cat 4 and articles pyrotechnic T2 and P2
Storage -MSER and it's ACOP
Use - MSER and HSWA
That's a summary of about a thousand pages of legal jargonese

There is nothing to stop you buying commercial stage pyro and using it in an amateur production, however you do have liability and insurance issues if something went wrong.
Stage pyro, just like fireworks could be purchased and used anywhere, but if there is any commercial aspect or general public then you must be very careful. At Yorkshire Scaregrounds I can use pyro for SFX and during battle scenes etc, but not when public are present.
