Hi All,

Would the following be any good for a ball mill do you think?

I looked at a similar container long ago and I would say No. The walls are usually quite thin and liable to split, leading to a powder leak and potential nasty hazard.

This is more suitable. I have one of these.Very thick walled and available in different sizes. I bought mine second hand. These are in packs of 10 so you may find them individually elsewhere or go in with others who wish to build a mill. http://www.fletchere...spx?product=388

Ill warn you though that with non tacky roller surfaces the ridges on the jar can lead to slippage

The cheap garden sprayer bottles - neck is a bit inconvenient due to small size but I use one regularly. Really tough, good size and 99p usually in range etc. take out the pump and block the resulting hole in the top. O- ring seal means no loss of powder.

Phil, you say you don't personally like them, so what would you recommend?

Well depending on the size of jar you want Barnsley-Marks suggestion is a really good one, those containers are bloody tough.

If you want a small jar I also have the 1250ml HD jars which are good for smaller mills and I have (to order) HDPE tube with plastic milled end caps which are pretty much indestructable!

I use the 2500 ml HDPE jar from Cooperman.

It is loaded with about 130 20mm lead balls & it takes some abuse.

I bought a spare, but have not needed to use it yet as it is so tough !

The only time them HDPE drums will break is if the contents ignites! and I would hazard a guess you would only loose an end cap ;-)

I thought you liked loud bangs phil? or is it the potential for very large, fast flying circular projectiles!! best leave this one on paper unless you have access to a lage unused quarry?
