Up until ER2014 a cert wasn't needed for flash. I guess they are not up to speed with new forms etc

Interesting update Rip Rap. I applied in September I think but not heard anything at all.
Have you already got BP A&K?
What has your ELO said re: pyrotechnic comps? (stars) (whistle) Are these on acquire only??
Rod
Yes I already have BP acquire and keep, which should cover basic star comps etc. The flash cert is for acquire only.
The Durham form is very different from what I remember - it basically only lists BP and blasting powder, but there are several free columns for "other" explosives that you fill in including the UN number.

What about star comps that are not BP? Like Veline? or whistle mix? How can you put UN numbers for these as there are infinite combinations. I asked for 100g pyrotechnic comp including flash UN0305
I guess time will tell

Yes that was COER1 for some reason they have removed that part on the new ER14.

Try UN 0476, UN 0478 and UN 0481. That should cover any compositions.

I didn't know that when I filled it in. I'll just have to wait till he gets back in touch and see what he says.

Just revisited this post. There is no mention of Flash UN no 0305 in ER2014 Schedule 2 or 3 either.
Is this an error?
Thoughts anyone?

Well I have finally received my flash certificate today.
It was originally posted on 23rd December 2014, but got lost in the post!
One thing I may have to question though - Section 4 "The maximum amount of explosives acquired on any one occasion shall not exceed" has been filled in as 100g and then says (1g)??
Anyway, please see below.

Nice! Well done, it can happen then! I see that is just for flash though. You said you had BP A&K as well didn't you? so what about pyro comp for non BP stars?, whistle etc
I have no idea why it should say (1g) in brackets, very odd. A phone call to your ELO then??

Hi Rod,
The B.P. based comps will have to cover pretty much what I do in the first year. (The flash cert is only for 1 year).
That is fine for me - some rockets, mines, candles etc with charcoal streamer stars (and variations of).
When I renew the certificate in December, I will enquire about adding "pyrotechnic compositions; Various".
