Work on the new BPS website has begun. There is a lot to do, but the new design is now finalised and work on the php scripts have begun.

Planned features include:

Article system with easy authoring
A chemicals database
A formula / compositions database
A firework display event list
Web links

Any other features you folks would like to see? The time to speak is NOW! I'm all-ears at the moment.

Cheers

Just thought if you could do the whole "search by ingredient" thing, would make the composition section super-searchable.

Yeah, I was thinking of having searches available by:

Composition type (report, stars, gerb etc)
Effect type (e.g metallic red star)
Contains: (Chemical x)
Author.

Richard,
Either searchable or selectable like the system on passfire.
Will each formula have a safety section relating to the formula or will there be a general safety section ?

A News section with information about articles appearing in magazines etc about BPS and items such as progretion with a licensing model etc.

Are you going to include features for the HPR guy's or only pyro (Tomahawk has arrived :P )

The BPS site will be mainly for pyro. I will add a news section too - good idea!

Each formula will have links to MSDS sheets for each chemical.

A search feature when you select the chems that are available and then it searches the database for comps (star, fountain etc) with those chems in

I think a rating on how difficult each device, comp, etc. is to make. Like is it recomended for beginners, amateurs, experienced, fully licensed manufacturer, etc.

I would love to know some nice gold glittering and a blue strobe comps but that dont require hard to get chemicals and dissolving 10 parts nitrocellulose lacquer in 100 parts acetone.

Sounds good already though.

Just nothing on Flash Powder or other HE's. I found out about it and got hooked on booms and am finally starting to go true pyro and no more FP. Use abbreviations too for somethings so some newer people (even me :D ) dont get carried away. I will be here all night posting suggestions but have some homework to do so I just hope I helped out.

Richard ? search facilities for formula database ? to allow ?families?:

The main problem in other search database I?m seen is that if you have ?titanium 20 mesh? and ?titanium 10 mesh? then you cannot search for formulas containing ?titanium?. So if the ingredients search is from a drop down box, both titaniums should be associated with the family ?titanium? and you should be able to search on the family as well?
