Ok I have had an idea. Maybe some of you guys are allready doing this.

Basically everyone orders at once from skylighter to cut shipping costs.

So maybe once a month or when we are all agreed, everyone sends the money including costs for sorting and distributing back to the members, to the person who is willing to take care of it. I would be happy to take care of it since I could use my mams store as the base and don't mind having that address handed out. Unfortunatly I cannot take credit cards so it would have to be cheques or cash and I would make the order online.

This would basically be sharing the shipping costs + we could get cheaper deals through buying in bulk.

Maybe we could set out a price list which is just slightly higher than the list price of items on skylighter. So whoever is sorting everything out, gets things just a little bit cheaper for doing all the work.

I don't want this to sound like im trying to make a profit either. I mean for example maybe add on a quid to each item.

It wouldnt hurt anyones pockets, they would still be saving on shipping costs and the person sorting it out would still not be making any profit. He would merely be getting a discount for his troubles.

Anyway. I have finished university till september and have time to kill. So what do you all think?

Yeah - genius, I'd love to do it this way, JUST MAKE SURE you only accept forum members orders, because you'll be getting a heck of a lot of orders from people who are on the wrong side of pyrotechnics, maybe PM's are the best idea?

Well I could set up a private area on my own website. If richard likes the idea, maybe he could do the same thing here.

It would be a brilliant idea if only members who have past the test on the bps members area could order. Thats including me. That way we know everyone who is getting chemicals at least knows the theory about being safe and what they should be doing. You cannot really do anymore than that. I would not feel very good if I sold to some kid who lost some fingers because of it. Plus whoever did happen to be selling would end up getting hunted down by their parents and the law. If im taking care of this im afraid I would not be willing to take orders from anyone under the age of 18 unless their parents had consented it and I had proof of that. This would be for my own moral issues as well as legal responsability.

Even though the person taking care of this is not actually a business working for profit, if he is sending people items and money is trading hands, he would probally be held responsible if it fell into the wrong hands.

Non-profit organization, what a brilliant idea.

I wish in my country we have that many forum members, will definitely take away minimum 50% of the time spending in looking for it or making it.

I wish I could be part of it. Good luck guys...

Which side of the pond are you on? Bulk ordering is a very good idea, but Skylighter is not much use to us poor UK'ers. Having said that, I would happily order some of the stuff they are willing to ship - smoke dyes would be nice.

Oh, and I would love to have a go at the BPS online test - (hint hint  )

I think it sounds like a great idea. Some of the stuff they will ship is very useful, and difficult, if not impossible, to find in the UK (unless you buy an industrial quantity). For example, they will ship parlon, titanium & ferrotitanium, coarse aluminium, benzoates/salycilates to name a few, and of course there are the books, videos and tubes etc.

What about poor Canada eh? :( Its pretty damn hard to get chemicals around here aswell. Plus I am a teenager (hate calling myself that) and yeah I have no chemical forms (licenses? I don't know what you need for chemicals...) to order anything more than stump remover. Bloody hell I seem to have troubles finding sulphur most of the time!

I'm sure United Nuclear would consider sending to Canada - if they're willing to negotiate sales externally to the states as they suggest on their ordering info.

I was searching the forum and came across this topic. Did the plan ever go ahead? I am looking to buy Tom Periguin Intoduction to Practical Pyrotechnics but dont desperatly want to have to spend lots on shipping. Is anybody from the UK planning to order off of skylighter soon?

My advice is split the order with one other person, I did this recently and shipping by surface, while taking 2 months worked out cheaper, not to mention I wasn't charged vat, excise, or anything else when the parcel landed!

i could do with a few bits and bobs, namely titanium and some tubes.
Not worth ordering by itself, but if you are putting a big one together, that would be great!
They wont ship magnalum tho, which is what i would really like. I dont have the equip to make my own :( any tips anyone?
