I've been using falling leaf fuse as stars (cutting them to 1 inch lengths and priming one end) and they simply aren't working at all, I'm pretty sure the break is smashing them. So what I'm looking for is any star formula that has few\easy to get chemicals. I plan on rolling the stars in my ball mill with lead shot if that makes any difference. Also, I can get Black Powder very easily so I was wondering can I make black powder stars with dextrin?
Hello, I have been trying to make my 4 inch shells work for sometime now and I just cant figure out whats wrong. I've been doing exactly what this artical says to do: http://www.unitednuclear.com/shell.htm. I get the shell to lift good but the break is just a little puff, less than a firecracker! I think my problem is my 70/30 Potassium Perchlorate/Sodium Benzoate whistle mix. I bought a ball mill to grind down the benzoate and I have gotten the whistle mix to produce a loud report realitivly unconfined, but when sprinkled in the shell it still just has a puff break. This is very aggravating and if someone could help me out I would really apreshiated it.
