UKFR 2016 :)

17 January 2016 - 03:08 PM

Just a thing, if you don't know already, www.ukfr.com is a good site for consumer fireworks, in fact it is porbably better than ever in terms or mood/feel; put directly, it's a good place to chat with other enthusiasts about consumer fireworks. :P Its sponsored too, but the sponsors interact well, the owner has been very assertive in moderating the forum recently. Check it out! :)

Just a thing- do people still come here? I've hardly been here in years. :P The other forums look quite active, but it does seem that any interest people once had in consumer fireworks on the UKPS has waned. :P

Shop Thoughts 2015

20 September 2015 - 12:18 AM

Some thoughts on Shops in the run up to 2105.

These are personal opinions/exerpeinces, as with anything I'm happy to stand corrected.I'm only adding shops I've personally visited in the last 3 years.

Astounded Fireworks - Run by Chris, who is a big enthusiast, and carries a good range of brands. I haven't personally been for a while, not for any bad reason, I just havn't spent much on fireworks over the last couple of years.

Epic Fireworks- Probably the largest independent retailer, and offering a very good selection including a lot of 1.3G stuff. At one point were by far the cheapest seller, but for necessary reasons other businesses are similar value for money to them now (this is not a bad thing, just natural market economics.)

Galactic Fireworks Have raised their profile a lot in recent years, and offer some good value stuff, and a lot of customer interaction, such as a good forum, special deals, preview nights and stuff.

Great Northern Fireworks Reliable all year round seller, with a lot of own brand products. Straight pricing, too, no "discount" marketing.

Jordans  A good selection of fireworks from a different brands, traditional high street seller.

JTF Not my favourite place, but carries a decent selection (albeit from one brand) as is open in the evenings and has demo nights.

Back for just a little while. Health problems, and sollutions etc have been going on. :P I've not bought fireworks for a few years now, but have followed the hobby at times. The passion I once had for pyro has gone, I still look back on it with fond memories. Anyone who remembers me, feel free to say hello . :)

£700 Finale Piece

08 July 2015 - 01:55 AM

From Galactic http://www.galacticf...te-finale-piece

What it actually is, apparantly, is several fireworks (obviously) with a kit to set them all off together. Which is fair enough.

There is a marmite feel to this, from one angle, it's a really nice idea, and some though has clearly gone into the idea of making a bit "single ignition" firework. On the other hand, this also seems to be trying to hook people along the lines that there is such a thing as a "£700 firework," which is truely massive...

Still, credit where credit's due for some innovative marketing.
