In Topic: Jumping Jack Flash

The jumpin jack flash stuff that I have tried was limited to a smallish selection box. The overall quality was fine and the small whistling rockets were very good indeed. The fountains had some nice effect changes but were pretty much run of the mill Chinese goods.
For nice quality cheap cat 2 fountains I buy one of the small selection boxes that Standard get made for Asda or Tesco. Just over ?3 a go for 11 fireworks - how can you go wrong at that price ??

Makes making your own look like too much hard work to me.

In Topic: Pharaoh's serpants?

Taken from Weingart "To prepare, make a concentrated solution of Mercuric Chloride and add little by little a solution of Potassium Sulphocyanide, stiring constantly.
A greyish precipitate will be formed and when the last drop of sulphocyanide added no longer produces cloudiness permit the mixture to settle"

After that he goes on to tell you to filter it out, wash it and grind the precipitate to a fine powder before adding gum arabic solution and forming into little cones.

Just added this for interest sake and don't suggest you try it at home kids.

In Topic: Indoor Fireworks

The fun house indoor fireworks are nothing like the old Tom Smith ones which were actually quite good.
The fun house pack consists of 3 smoke items and some sparklers plus a tiny table charge. As for the indoor bit they smell to high heaven and are so lame that a local retailer sold off his stock at ?1 each to get rid !!

Might be entertaining for kiddies though as you get a story book in the pack and are meant to read it as you let off the assorted smokey things. I think "indoor" is a bit iffy though as you would smell out the house for some time.

In Topic: Sieve material

I live in sunny Worcestershire.

The supplier of sieve material is potters connection. They have a website and the available sieve sizes are listed on the catalogue page. They're in Stoke on Trent I think.
Delivery was pretty good.

Cheers
