I have a several questions regarding squibs. I am doing another lowbudget film and has been hired as the pyrotechnician.
Are homemade squibs safe?
How do you effectively make a homemade squib?
What type of powder is needed for the charge?
Should I weaken the clothing where the squib will shoot through?
How thick should the metal plate be?
What are some major dangers in making squibs?
And any information on the electrical charge, circuit firing, all the stuff that goes along with that would be just great.

Hey guys, I'm doing my buddies' timemachine effects for a spanish project. Its being filmed and I was asked to do some pyrotechnic effects for the timemachine. The people that will be in the project would be relatively close to the pyrotechnics. Got any suggestions? I was thinking along the lines of tons of smoke clouds and flashes. Also I have about a week to do this all so quick projects only.

I cannot seem to find a reasonable Canadian chemical supplier. All the pyro suppliers are for US and the UK only. Does anyone know a good supplier who will ship to Canada?
