In Topic: "Pocket Money" Fireworks

one of my first memories of fireworks was a "garden selection box", a standards fireworks size 22 i think it was
my utter favourite being the firefly (still is!), its because these little treasures have gone that has made me want to learn more about the pyro involved and eventually to recreate the contents for my grand daughter.(and a little bit for myself  )

i agree with whats been said that when you buy a modern box, there all pretty much of a muchness and i find them a tad boring after the first half dozen, but i too find the report of a 6 inch shell exciting form the launch, the anticipation during ascent and finally the pretty burst.

personally i feel that we are missing something by the lack of those little back garden fireworks, i remember the delighted squeals of my son on bonfire night, absolutely priceless. seeing as they are not all "airbombs", how can they be considered as a nusiance. its a bizarre decision.

my two penneth,

well, i mess around with various vst audio toys and synths, i home brew on the odd occaision and try to strangle the odd tune out of my guitar, but i spend a lot of time with a shovel in my hand digging victorian rubbish tips for old bottles and pot lids, (not in hudds though!, kirklees are a bit funny about it). sometimes i even sell the odd one if its a good un, its harder to dig during the day now as too many clueless people with a mobile phone and no common sense think your digging badgers and call the old bill.

starting to to take my dalliance with pyro as a young un a little more earnestly.

those pictures and videos brought back some memories, thank you for posting that. 1985, bored 16 year old and a pack of 3 2 1 's and its genie time.

i do remember buying some feistal bangers in about 1996 ish, looked a bit like those astra ones with the crimped neck and black primer cap.
