Hi,

As Cooperman said, Pyrodex needs high pressure to burn rapidly enough to work as a propellant.

It's not suitable for lifting shells, unless you really wedged them in, with no blow-by :)

What an incredible achievement.

Massive kudos to you all.

If I hadn't just read this thread there's no way I would have believed it.

Regards, Chris.

In Topic: I woke the neighbours

I was in Saalbach in Austria skiing for New Year, so couldn't do my normal display.

This is the 4th time in Austria for New Year and I love it. They either don't have the same Firework laws or they simply ignore them :)

Kids setting off cakes in the streets, bottle rockets flying around, hotel staff throwing bangers. Now, I'm not condoning any of this, but it shows what a nanny state we live in :)

Regards.

In Topic: New venue for the firework championships

16 March 2013 - 12:06 AM

Many thanks for posting about the new venue.

I normally go to Belvoir, but the date clashes with the Henley rewind festival - don't ask - I'm forced to go.

Just booked up and looking forward to seeing a local company from washington - not that far from me.

Thanks again, otherwise I would have missed it this year.

Regards, Chris.

In Topic: Firing equipment.... advice please

12 November 2012 - 11:12 AM

Hi,

I've been using a Cobra 18M firing module with an 18R remote for over a year now and it's great.
It'll fire up to 10 e-match/ ignitor clips in series and up to 4 in parallel on each cue.
I just fired a show with all 18 cues. 8 cues had 2 e-matches in series and 2 had 3 e-matches in parallel.
The number of series and parallel e-matches can be increased greatly by adding an external battery.

I bought the system from easypyro.com, but when I needed some support a few weeks ago their site was down, so I emailed Cobra directly on a Sunday and got a reply from the Cobra CEO, Scott, immediately. We had a chat and he posted a re-programmer ( for updating the firmware), on the Monday. Excellent support.

As Dave said, I would go for the 18R2 Remote as it adds support for scripted firing and some other cool stuff such as seeing which cues have continuity while in Fire mode.
With the 18R remote, you have to be in test mode to see the cue continuity on the Remote.

Regards, Chris.
