Rob
You may have a cheap deal BUT have you ever fired shells from these tubes? 7mm wall seems thin to me for a 4" mortar and mortar failure is always a very bad incident. If you are absolutely confident in these tubes with practical supporting evidence then consider the price of a GRP mortar and consider the price of getting a plug fitted in your card tubes.
Pour some polyester resin and some warm dry sand in equal quantity down the tube to make a plug say 1.5 inches thick to make a few trial plugged mortars.

I do have a supplier of cut wooden plugs to precise measure if you decide that it is worth getting a run of 100+ plugs made, the supplier is in east London.

I do not deal in 4" aerial shells, The maximum I do for now is 2" as I have just started out on the hobby!

I have no way of testing these tubes. All I know is that I can stand on them and they do not compress at all and I way 9 stone so they are pretty strong!

I have no idea if they are suitable for mortars im just suggesting a use for them.

If the buyer is happy using them or has previously used them as mortars then I am more than happy to sell them as mortars.

If I was going to use them myself then I would be very confiident using them as mortars but that is just me!

Either way if people want them I will get them if not then I wont!

Anyway mate thanks for your input, much appreciated!

So if i decide to make core burners......how do I make the delay to ignite the payload? do I need some delay composition of just a bit of time fuse (or visco)?

Thanks for the input guys....keep it coming!

I launched a couple tonight, one with a 1" payload and one with a 2"payload.

The one inch worked perfectly, right height, burst at apogee.

The 2" went about 60 feet then fipped upside down and hit the ground under power then burst.

I am getting there though :)
