On Skylighter you can add items to your shopping cart without buying them to see the price.

I made some Dragon Eggs over the weekend using Tiranti Aluminium. They seem to work just fine!

Just for reference, I would advise that you make "granules" by rubbing the wet comp through a 10/20 mesh screen. I attempted to make cut micro stars[1-2mm cubes], and while these give a sharp crack upon ignition, the stars do not burn up completely. In fact I managed to get 5 cracks out of one "egg" just by reigniting the leftovers!

Smaller granules would make much better use of the comp, without sacrificing crackling quality

Safety note! "Dragons Eggs" crackle comps are friction and heat sensitive. You should exercise full precautions to avoid mishaps.

Have you made both types of dragon egg's before?"bismothtrioxide/and redlead based comp's" If any one else has , besides the toxichttp://www.ukrocketry.co.uk/forum/style_images/1/folder_post_icons/icon8.gif nature what are the different properties between the comps ? burn rate, color if any, sound, easy or diffacult to take fire/prime ...etc ?

I love it! I can buy a pack of smokes which will hurt me for sure! Yet theres a 1000 laws in place to protect me from myself . I guess its ok to harm your self if its slow and will help the economy.

It came from Best of AFN 3 originally

Bismuth trioxide 75
Magnalium, -200 mesh 15
Black copper oxide 10
Aluminum, 200 mesh atomized +5 [tiranti]
solvent 10% NC lacquer

I've not yet tried any redlead based comps, and am unlikely to in the future. It's just too damn nasty for my liking!

How long would 100g of red lead last when using dragon eggs because i am not sure to buy 100g or 500g of red lead from www.inoxia.co.uk i was going to buy 200g but then i might as well send a few more pounds ang get 500g, but if i buy 500g i might not use it all 300g would be the ideal amount but then i am paying more then i would for 500g so would 100g do or is it worth buying 500g

I didn't try with Pb3O4 but with Bi2O3 and 100g last quite a long time, I'm able to make about 50 cut stars with 3,5g of Bi2O3 and I think they could still be made smaller, but then it would be difficult to cut them.

Red lead is red lead....so it is the correct chemical for dragons eggs.
