In which case I apologise profusely to Caramanos! And to the mods for taking this off topic!
Safety concerns are *never* off topic here.

I know that, but still my post could have been taken as a flame which in my opinion would be counted off topic, much the same as this post; for which I apologise also!Safety concerns are *never* off topic here.

Mike

I was all ready to fire tonight when I found out the tube I was going to use as my mortar is just slightly too small I'm frantically looking for a replacment but not having much success.

Made my first cylindrical shell today with winkour 20 and a few left over green and purple stars.

Another option is to do the spiking again with a slightly thinner yarn!
One additional tip: Cut the fuse to the desired lenght (cut in a slight angle!) and prime it with bp slurry.
You´ll find out at one time or another that visco fuse is destoyed by the lift charge and thus does
not take fire...
Another tip: Add a final layer paste-soaked kraft paper around it which holds the spiking pattern in place.
Would be too sad for your first shell not to take fire and hit the ground intact...

Anyway I've been asking the nurses at my work to look out for tubes for my 'Art' and was pointed in the direction of the recycling bins. I found quite a few salvagable things including a 2" tube so I'll probably attempt my shell in the next few days.
