I just got this one. Disregard the music, I extracted it from a compilation someone else made. The timing isn't quite right, but you get the idea. 5 timed spider. I used 1/4" spolette differences between breaks. I think I will use 5/16" or 3/8" next time, and break it a bit earlier in it's flight. I hope to get the big shell breaking harder. It's hard to believe that had 12g of flash in it. I'll use 70-30 next time.

Here are two clips from my NYE show.

Unfortunately the camera with the rest of the show is at a friends house, and he has gone away, resulting in pyro withdrawal symptoms on my part. I hope to get my fix soon, and I'll post it when that eventuates!

I have just recieved the full footage from my NYE display.

I'm not completely happy with everything including the location of the cameraman and the fact that he missed the wheel but I think it went alright overall.

Enjoy

Just thought I'd post a vid of a shell from last night. 3" Blue Peony I step primed the stars and if you look at the video at about 5 seconds you can see the blue colour comes through when the prime has burnt off.

That shell functioned very well. Was that the telltale mark of a spollette that I saw, or did you use a small comet + timefuse?

What burst/confinement, and what blue??

No doubt the colour was even better in reality.

Hi Seymour, It wasn't a spollette it was just the timefuse, It was 10mm stuff from Europe. The stars were "bright blue star" from passfire "shared formulas" and the burst was 13g whistle. The shell was 3" plastic with no extra confinement.

Nice shell as always. Maybe add a couple of % of hexamine to your formula to increase the size of the flame envelope?
Phew that was close.

Good shell! Love that timefuse we use, tails on it look like nice charcoal spoolettes! Keep up the good work!

I put together a 20 shot cake for my 20th birthday, and fired it earlier.
20 shot cake

I used scavenged 14mm tubes from a chinese cake I fired for new year, it was more to prove the concept worked, and some of the lift amounts could do with fine tuning.

Also for some reason not all the salutes went off, which consisted of a 10mm insert, 1/2" of time fuse with bright flake + titanium flash and end caps, although the time fuses definately ignited and were seen to be rising. Similar inserts with veline stars and BP burst worked.

I was impressed with the brightness of the Davis antimony trisulfide fueled white stars though, especially for the cost of them.

I used the chinese construction method of threading a single piece of fuse through all the tubes, then gluing together around a former. Each one was filled in the normal way, then approximately 15ccs of fine sawdust was hand pressed onto each one. I have pictures if anyone is interested in using this method.

Hopefully bigger and better cakes will be on their way this year.
You can never have a long enough fuse...

Hi,

I'm new on the forum, so I thought I'd share a video of a show I did a few years ago (come to think of it, it's now 10 years ago!).

I did it at cost as a fund raiser for a local scout group - they liked it, I hope you do to.
