its leaps and bounds above and beyond the old brightspark units is the Launch Kontrol firing system :-) theres 2 systems and the pro version will fire up to 20 fireworks using 4 receivers on the 1 remote control , or more if you double up receivers

Looks very good! How does it work? I mean it looks like you just clip onto visco. Is there a filament that ignites the visco or is there some comp on the clip? How many uses from each clip? Anyone bought one yet?

The clip is a one shot that contains NO compound, it is a resistance wire like a light filament that burns into the visco to ignite it.

One shot? from each clip then you have to spend another tenner for a refill pack of three? That sounds a very expensive way of lighting fireworks to me.

its 5 shots or clips per pack per receiver , the basic system is 5 fireworks fired then its a case of re-arming the unit .....the pro version uses 4 receivers on the 1 remote so fires 20 fireworks before havng to be re-armed , this is all assuming you use 1 receiver per button on the remote control , it is possible to use 6 or 7 receivers per button if you want to fire in multiples , replacement packs of fuses are £9.95 for 15 clips enabling 15 fireworks to be fired

Yeah, 5 shots per clip. Went and bought one today, even though the replacement clips are quite expensive, the unit seems good value, for basically a tenner and who's to say you buy the clips...Relays...E-match ;) would be good for test fires.

As a general consumer product I think it's good value, from a safety point.

If anyone is interested and the weather is ok, I'll test fire a clip tomorrow ?

Given that it is firing visco purely from a hot wire I would very much doubt that you need a relay to fire an e-match with it - it should source enough current for e-matches and Estes igiters I would think.

From the ad the connectors look to be industry standard IDC ribbon connectors so I would guess the whole rig is pretty good quality. The clips can probably be re-worked or at least the ribbon re-used as a tail to another igniter.

Pity the range is only 15m - given that at the price of clips it will be most useful on larger cat3 fireworks. I was thinking of getting one to fire my finale sequence to allow reasonably close timing between the fireworks and not having to spread them out too much.

No doubt It would, but I was thinking more along lines of extending the range, for example using the unit to trigger the relay, switching a higher current down 100m's of cable. Also the IR range is 65'

Have a look at the nichrome wire that I assume is across the clip to ignite the wire. If it appears quite thick compared to e-match bridge wire then you can simply run a wire of considerable length to an e-match.
