Remember also the limit (eg 499kg of 1.4g) is for the NEQ, NOT gross weight. I'd like to see anyone get that much into a car!

Ah but when you start talking about even NEQ of cat 3-1 its not that much when shells are involved, 49.9kg doesn't go that far really

From one list to hand, a 3 in shell is 320g neq a 4" is 560g and a 6" is 1kilo neq. and all are 1.3. Other supplier's lists may say different numbers.

So while they may be transportable in numbers below the ADR weight limit as shells they are professional fireworks.

Added; The transport class of the load is the class of the "worst" item. So 100 little cat2 (1.4) cakes and one shell - the load is classed as the total weight of 1.3.

So, for argument's sake 1x 6" shell = 1kg NEQ. You can take 49 of them in your car.

However, if you also have any 1.4G material (eg smaller cakes/candles, etc) the load is MIXED and the load ALL has to be classed as 1.3G. The TOTAL OVERALL NEQ must be below 50kg.

Anyway, I'd like to see someone get 49 6" tubes in a car...

Yep your smack on there.

The total load is classed as the highest risk single item. 1.1 to 1.3g is UNDER 50kg and 1.4g is UNDER 500kg

49 kilos is less than the assumed weight of a person for things like car seating and loading. However we digress!

Carrying classified domestic fireworks cat 1, 2 or 3 could be considered "Social Domestic and Pleasure for insurance purposes. However would the insurer consider carrying of cat4 professional fireworks SDP????
