I was directed to www.pyro-stuff.com from a post I'd made on passfire. Member rene put a link to it saying that shipping to EU has been reduced in the last few weeks

I just wondered if anyone has used them? any feedback, and are they reliable?

Maxman

I have used this site a few months ago for some italian twine,it took about 7 days to arrive,i would certainly use it again.

Clamshells, now that's got to beat jubilee clips as long as your tubes are of a consistent size,
there have been inconsistencies even with NEPT tubes, at least with clips you have a little to play with.

you right,, but you can bore a mil over and take up the slack with a few turns of paper, this what i do at the moment, because i too have sh@te sleeves

I would like a clamshell but just need something to get me going for the moment then I can try out the new press.

Maxman

fare enough pal, i'll be making " bp puck" tooling for press's to if there enough interest

So Chris do you have an new mill on the way? CNC 5 axis control?

I made my own clamshells and appreciate how much work goes into them. Milling everything true, drilling bolting tapping and then setting them up in a 4 jaw chuck to bore the center. Took me about 3 hours to make my set.

yep ive seen your, rocket tooling/ clam shell, ive got your pic on file, really nicely made sir, yep planning some some nice machinery, not cnc, i wish!

hmm the range looks "limited" compared to wolter and the spindle base's look to thin for me a bit "cheap and chearful"

Chris, our rocket tool bases are 10mm and some are 12mm thick, they are machined just like rich wolters are (his bases are 13mm thick). All our spindles are machined of SS and we also include a very well fitting support sleeve to the set. (which wolters doesn't). For a 1lb BP tool which is about 19.7mm, ours are quite cheaper.

agreed your tooling is a good price, so why not charge a couple pounds more and have a nice 15mm+ base, they just "feel better"

It doesn't make any sense to make them thicker, I saw our new stock is all 12mm. My own spindles have a 10mm base and is really thick enough, you might need to see it before you are convinced I suppose.

Thanks for that Digger, I'll check out the shipping but looks like a big saving. I'm just after a couple of sleeves really so thought sch40 pvc might be the way to go?? for a 4oz tube and a full size and cut down 1lb tube also.

Maxman

If you are looking for some sleeves for your 1lb tubes,28mm copper pipe is 25mm internal dia,i got some on fri in anticipation for when i get my press.

good luck with your pressing's i use thick walled ali tube and 15 hose clips :( at the moment, and its , ok but i find the tube wants to move to the left/ right under pressure as there's not much of a footprint with sleeves/ clips to keep everything square

It's probably the exact same star plate, just getting shipped straight from China/Hong Kong. I've used them before, and well, you get what you pay for. Make sure to put the pins in the right way, and don't use any Titanium/ferrotitanium. A polishing of the inside of the female plate every so often really helps keep the stars coming out easily.

It's not exact the same starplate and yes it is imported from china, like many things are, and I don't see the problem with it. I use them myself like many customers. I have used them with titanium without any scratching or other problems. I also don't get complains from our customers. The plates are marked on the sides of each part and this way it's quite impossible to do anything wrong with it.

well UK ,I'm sorry for any offence it was just an observation

But what does that has to do with our bases? I can't get your point really . Ours are rectangle, so? They are good, look good and will last a lifetime.

You're saying about cheap and cheerful which is totally untrue. I can't call that just an observation. Our pictures are taken a bit from above so the specification of the tools can't be adopted easy, maybe that's why they look thin to you.

I'm not offending you or something, just defending our tools. ;)
For our company and our products there is always a balancing of price and quality. For these tools the price for the product is more than reasonable.

Chris, is that Inoxia Steve?
Freud. Artists, in this view, are people who may avoid neurosis and perversion by sublimating their impulses in their work.

yep you get regular and you get sexy, i live in a world of custom/ experimental tooling which in my eyes is what amateur rockets is all about, i should know i make lots, we could all buy estes motors, but could you call yourself a amateur rocket scientist, or even get mildly excited?
