Charcoal Cooking?

13 September 2003 - 11:09 PM

Can the cooking take place in two goes it cook for say 2 hours then top up charcoal and continue again when pot has cooled? just first batch i ran out of heat so only 3/4 cooked i have removed the cooking pot and plugged to prevent any further oxygen. i plan to continue again but will this charcaol be duff as cooking in two stages of does it not matter as long as its cooked slowly and with min oxygen?

Thanks

Willow - No not the film

27 July 2003 - 04:14 PM

1 can source some willow from the local garden center they have 4 types:

"Browns" - Dried with the Bark On

"Whites" - Sprouted, Bark stripped and then dried.

"Buffs" - Boiled, Bark stripped and then dried.

"Blacks" - Steamed and then dried with the Bark On

I would gather to make willow charcoal i would need whites as these have the bark stripped ( saves me ) would this be correct ? as i would then only have to chop up to fit into my kiln (coffee tin)

Thanks

manchesterminerals rock tumblers

29 June 2003 - 06:46 PM

Can anyone here comment on any of the rock tumblers available on manchesterminerals web site i have seen people write about the 'Evans 'Junior' Tumbler' but I would be more interested in the 'Tumble Polisher CR1' as look like it would last longer and similar to the US Lortone tumblers. Or may be you could suggest an alternative tumbler source.
