#88777 Problems with Expanding Stars after/during Drying

Posted by Pyro-Gear on 01 February 2018 - 06:09 PM

Your problems are very common with this sodium nitrate based stars, what you have is a driven in star and the reaction between the alloys is pushing out cuseing splits in the stars, sodium nitrate is very hydroscopic so dry it first!

However if you knock out the Dextrin and sub that for PVB and bind with IPA you won’t get the problem also your stars won’t burn to the ground regards Ken.

£30 on Amazon just search for dehydrator. I'd love to post a link but, unfortunately, I can't copy and paste into the forums.

Just use more post options, post from word.

Gold spider web:

54% potassium nitrate

32% charcoal (air float)

7% sulphur

7% Dextrin

Ball mill all components together. Dampen with 75% water / 25% Alcohol mixture. Cut 5/8" to 3/4".
