From my experience, using just willow charcoal made my 1lbers cato , have you tried a slower charcoal ,and /or try adding a percentage of 80 mesh to slow it down and give a nice tail ?

#85223 Thank you all

Many thanks everybody for another excellent AGM,

I think the relaxed way in which the event was run was universally agreed to have been more enjoyable as we had more time to chat and catch up.

A special thank you to the Rev Lancaster for a lovely talk and his generosity ,

And Karl, i loved your Ricassa material  :D

#83005 Looking for some suggested formulas

For your peace of mind if you start with a nozzle less fountain and when this performs correctly then add a nozzle to your next one.

Be warned though , after you have made your first fountain and tested it you will be hooked and there will be no turning back  :)

It is a great feeling when testing your first one, whether it works as intended or goes bang the buzz you get is magic ,

Good luck and please let us know  how it went.

#82312 Licence to purchase chemicals - A show of hands of who would obtain one...

Posted by starseeker on 16 June 2014 - 08:50 PM

Keep cool sparky,

As from september we will have 18 months to get your explosive precursors licence to enable you to buy and store the chemicals on the restricted list, also you will need your COER for black powder storage, and due to all the hard work that Wayne has put in and our hobby being recognised as legitimate this should all be straight forward.

I would also think that where ever you get your chems now, should not change ,if anything you should have even more choice  :)

#81119 Licence to purchase chemicals - A show of hands of who would obtain one...

Let be honest, the HO and the HSE are not a bunch of thicko's!  They understand that it can't possibly stop illegal activity but they do know that if persons are caught with chemicals without licencing they can then prosecute!  This can't be said at the moment.

I find this a bit hard to believe,

Surely if the police arrest a suspected terrorist, find a stash of incriminating evidence including chemicals they can hammer them?

If the CPS are quite happy to hammer home experimenters including confiscation of legally held chemicals then you would have thought somebody who was up to no good would be shafted.
