UKPS 2017 AGM!

28 March 2017 - 12:10 PM

For anybody who may not have received it, the email for notification of the 2017 agm was sent out at the weekend and mailed to those that we don't have emails for.

If we could try and create a census of those intending to come it would help us greatly. The email was as follows:

-------------------------------

I am writing to you on behalf of the UK Pyrotechnic Society management committee to inform you that the Annual General Meeting (AGM) for 2017 will be held at:

Broughton Playing Fields & Village Hall,

Gate Lane,

Broughton,

Kettering,

NN14 1ND

On Saturday 6th May 2017 from 2pm

A formal agenda is still to be confirmed, we encourage everyone to attend and would welcome suggestions of topics for discussion. These can be made by letter or preferably email or through the forum to save time. We ask that these are received by the 22nd April to allow us time to assess and accommodate as many as possible.

The day will start with our formal declarations, chairman’s report, acceptance of financial report, talks (to be confirmed) and discussions of topics raised by the members. It will end with our firework display and as we have the venue until midnight it is our intension to use this time to enable everyone to have informal chat at leisure as we normally do, simply at the venue itself.

The AGM is free to attend for members and non-members, snacks and tea/coffee will be supplied during the day, with the intention of ordering food in later in the day.

Although this is not an election year we would welcome volunteers to help with the running of the society. Help in any capacity would be welcome, particularly the posts of Treasurer and Membership Secretary as the current holders of these posts would like to step down if suitable replacements can be found. We ask any person considering involvement to contact a current staff member, either through the forum or by email.

We ask that members bring their membership cards to use as identification on the day.

If you have any question about this letter or if we can help in any other way, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Yours sincerely

Philip Cooper

Volunteer Requests

05 March 2017 - 11:30 PM

We are currently looking for volunteers within the pyro community to take on a closer role within the society.

While we have 2 specific places that we would actively like to fulfil this post is aimed at encouraging everyone within the community to be part of and contribute to the running of the UKPS. The small number of us that currently are trying to fulfil all of the needs of the society struggle to accomplish everything that could be achieved and as for some time a view of closed doors has been perceived we are encouraging people to realise that the doors are open and that they are welcome :)

We are particularly looking for two volunteers (potentially one) to fulfil the roles of membership secretary and treasurer as our current volunteers are due to retire their positions as membership secretary at the beginning of April with a potential crossover to help a new candidate until the end of April and treasurer at the end of March.

Details can be discussed with appropriate candidates but we would encourage anybody that would like to see the society develop to put themselves forward to assist and help steer that development.

Many thanks

Phill Cooper

Who's planning on coming, prep is well underway for our part!

EPP face to face oppertunity

03 April 2016 - 08:13 PM

Nothing to do with my new appointment but on the 26th of May I will be driving down the M1 and clockwise around the M25 (the second bit probably at walking speed) to Swanley for two nights and then south to Cantebury for another night. If anyone is on that route or happy to drive to it (preferably the overnight stop offs as its easier but on route is ok too) I'm offering free delivery (assuming it's not out of my way) on all EPP licenced chemicals to licence holders.

Obviously at the AGM I can offer this too but the date is TBC

If you want anything please PM me

To celebrate

01 April 2016 - 09:54 AM

I had a charcoal burn to celebrate the new position last night, I'd run out of pine charcoal and wow did it take me back to the good old days!
