I was wondering does anyone have any basic problems to recommend for someone just getting into pyrotechnics?

Recommended books would also be useful.

I would like to ease myself into the hobby.

I been recommended star mines as a good experience which are easy to make and safe later beginner project but does anyone have any suggestions?

I am currently looking for best places to order remaining tools and safety gear before I even think about buying the chemicals but lining up some basic problems will help a lot. If theres a book with a good mix of basic pyrotechnics projects I would be very glad if you could recommend it to me.

I am a college student dabbling in a search for a new hobby. I done quite a bit of research over the last couple of weeks. Always enjoyed the practical side of chemistry Alevel chemistry class's killed it for me. Now more focused on envrionmental and biological science. I am trying to re flame my love of chemistry. I done research into the UK laws now it come down to safety and chemicals

Now its time to start the flow of money and try most likely a KNO3 + sugar smoke reaction for the simple reason its a safe start.

My main question is safety equipment what do you recommend?

On a side note where is the best place to buy chemicals needed? www.hobbychem.co.uk have a good selection is there any others you recommend?

Well as I am just getting started as a hobby though a lot of research over the last few days I learnt quite a lot.

I saw smoke b**bs bing a good way to get into the hobby as a beginner due to the lack of BP. Yet the question on UK laws i been struggling to answer.

I know about the small 100g of BP being the most you can have at any one time still seems a bit odd seems quite low.

So how legal are smoke b**bs? Is it illegal over public land and roads or completely illegal?
