Elected Positions
Chairman
Richard Harwood is Chairman and founding member of the society. He has always been fanatical about fireworks and felt an organisation should be setup to represent his interests. Over the years the society has developed and grown to represent a wide range of members who share a passion for pyrotechnics. As chairman, Richard’s role is to keep the ship on the rails and spearhead the society’s policies and overall strategy. He must also ensure that the society is run in a fair and legal manner.
Secretary
Jon Williams is Secretary and most definitely a fireworks man. His interest has taken him as far as Liuyang, China. Jon is an active member in both organising society events and helping to manage our popular pyrotechnics forum. In his role as Secretary, Jon organises and takes minutes of meetings and liaises with other organisations on behalf of the society.
Treasurer
Gal-on Broner is our appointed Treasurer. He has spentĀ much time in the United States and has been an active member of fireworks clubs and organisations across the pond. He is methodical in both fireworks and managing the society’s bank account. In his role as Treasurer, Gal-on ensures our accounting is kept up to date and accurate. As a not-for-profit organisation is it vital that we show exactly where every penny comes from and indeed how we spend it.
Executive Positions
Safety Officer
Adam Wordsworth is the society’s safety officer. He has good practical experience in the explosives industry having worked in both the fireworks / pyrotechnics and film SFX sectors. His role is to ensure that all society events are conducted safely and to minimise the risks to our members from their activities. He will be heading up the new society factory scheme.
Co-Opted Positions
Membership Liaison Officer
Phil Dunford is our Membership Liaison Officer. His role is to sit in on the weekly management meetings and communicate the actions and outcomes of these to the membership in a variety of ways including this website, the forum, and regular email bulletins. Phil is also the editor of our members newsletter publication Spark.
Management Meetings
The society holds weekly management meetings. These are typically conducted by voice conference call. The format of these meetings generally follow the minutes. The outcomes of the weekly management meetings are communicated by Phil Dunford, our Membership Liaison Officer.
